What MyLegalWin Is

A Recognition Program, and the Directory That Grew From It

MyLegalWin started in 2023 as a recognition program for attorneys and law firms. The research behind it kept surfacing the same problem: the directories those attorneys already appeared in were built around volume — thin profiles, listings created without the attorney's involvement, and little a prospective client could use to tell one practice from another.

The directory opened in 2026 as an answer to that: the same research standard applied to how a practice is presented, rather than to who gets recognized. It gives people researching an attorney more to work from, and gives attorneys and firms somewhere their record is described accurately.

The directory and the recognition programs share a standard. They remain separate functions, with separate processes and separate decisions.

The MyLegalWin Directory

The directory is designed to help prospective clients, referral sources, and professional peers better understand the attorneys and law firms they are researching.

Profiles provide meaningful information about professional background, practice focus, location, firm affiliations, and contact pathways. They are structured for traditional search and AI-assisted discovery, with information reviewed for accuracy and reasonable corrections accepted when needed.

The directory includes paid annual profiles alongside editorial profiles MyLegalWin creates to strengthen coverage in a given market. Editorial profiles are researched and written here, not generated in bulk from scraped records — and correcting or removing one has never required a payment.

Annual Recognition

MyLegalWin's annual recognition programs identify attorneys and law firms through independent research, peer nominations, professional standing, and editorial review. Credentials publish as the record states them — bar admissions exactly as bar records show them, and board certification or specialization only where a state bar or accredited certifying organization has conferred it.

No purchase is required for consideration or selection. Directory participation and other commercial relationships do not influence recognition decisions.

After selection, honorees may license a badge, order an award, or add a directory profile. These are promotional products, offered after a decision has already been made — never a condition of it.

How We Got Here

2023

MyLegalWin Launches

MyLegalWin began as an awards-focused platform created to identify and recognize attorneys and law firms demonstrating meaningful professional standing within their markets and practice areas.

2024–2025

A Broader Need Emerges

As the recognition programs grew, conversations with attorneys, firms, and legal consumers revealed a broader problem. Existing legal directories often contained thin profiles, mass-created listings, and limited context for evaluating the professionals behind them.

2026

The Directory Opens

MyLegalWin expanded into a curated professional directory built around substantive profiles, clear search pathways, local market coverage, and direct access to participating attorneys and firms. The annual recognition programs continue alongside the directory as a separate editorial function.

Founder Perspective

"The goal was never to build the largest legal directory. It was to build one worth using."

MyLegalWin was founded by Jack Colton, a digital publisher and strategist with experience building editorial platforms and working with professional service firms.

The platform grew from a straightforward belief: people searching for legal representation deserve more than a name and phone number, and accomplished legal professionals deserve to be represented with greater substance and context.

MyLegalWin is part of the Expert Honors network, which operates recognition platforms and professional directories in law, medicine, finance, technology, coaching, and brokerage.
